Terri Byrd Fund for Women in Ministry.

Terri Byrd has been an inspiration to many women across our state as she has ably led the work of Alabama CBF. Young women cite her as a role model of how a woman can exercise significant gifts in professional ministry and many of them have been personally mentored by Terri over the years.

As a fellowship, we value the role of women in our churches and have consistently encouraged these women to listen for and answer the call of God into service as ministers of the Gospel. However, too often women pastors and staff ministers need additional support and encouragement as they exercise their gifts, often in isolation from other women ministers.

Therefore, the Coordinating Council of Alabama CBF determined to create a fund designed to provide opportunities for women serving as ministers in our churches. Meredith Stone, National Director of Baptist Women in Ministry (BWIM) recently said “women are often in smaller congregations and/or positions that pay less so they don't have the resources for continuing education or professional development opportunities. Something like this could help them go to a conference, receive coaching, or help them receive formal training in something like conflict management or interim ministry. I think that would be amazing!” The Alabama CBF Coordinating Council enthusiastically supports this thought.

In recognition of Terri Byrd’s twelve years of leadership with Alabama CBF, the Coordinating Council sought a significant way to celebrate her achievements and honor her service in a lasting way. Therefore, we have established the Terri Byrd Fund for Women in Ministry to address the needs of women ministers in Alabama.

We invite you to join us in honoring Terri and supporting woman ministers by giving to the Terri Byrd Fund for Women in Ministry.
